Abstract

Background: HIV / AIDS has become an endless global health problem from year to year and spread in almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia. Human Immun deficiency Virus (HIV) was a virus that can attack and decrease the human immune system, caused the emergence of symptoms collection of a disease called AIDS. ARV therapy must be lived for a lifetime by HIV / AIDS patients to maintain patient immunity. Therefore the use of ARVs required high adherence to achieve therapeutic success and prevent resistance. Some factors that influence medication adherence were knowledge, perception, health services and social support. A positive perception will get good compliance due to the perception that can influence someone's actions. Methods: This research was a non-experimental research with a cross sectional approach. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The criteria in this study were all HIV sufferers aged 25-49 years with diagnoses under one year and taking antiretroviral (ARV). The number of respondents was 30 respondents. Research analysis used was Chi-Square test. Results: The result of the analysis used the Chi-Square test, because it did not meet the demand of Fisher's Exact test with the obtained p value = 0.041 < (α = 0.05), this showed that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Conclusion: There is a relationship between perception and medication adherence for HIV patients at Victory Plus Foundation Yogyakarta.
